Tiberium Gets a Pink Slip From EA

    By Joe Haygood | September 30, 2008

Electronic Arts has been going through a top to bottom re-evaluation of all their titles that have been on the books, and it looks like a casualty has been found.  Tiberium, a new first person shooter that was based in the Command and Conquer universe has been cancelled.

EA’s Mike Verdu had the following to say about Tiberium’s cancelling, “The game had fundamental design challenges from the start.”.  One has to wonder if the game was starting to go in the direction that Command and Conquer: Renegade went, and Electronic Arts wanted to put the stop on it before it because a giant failure.  The game has never translated well to other genres in the past, which is a shame, as there is a ton of lore there that could be used in other types of games in the Command and Conquer release.
