Kirby “Celestial Event” Ends Up Underwhelming

    By Joe Haygood | September 18, 2008

So last week, Nintendo served up a juicy bit of news, that discussed a “celestial event” that would occur this week involving their pink, lovable character, Kirby.

Well, someone I know went to one of these events to see what the big commotion was in regards to this event, and lo and behold, he found something of epic proportions!

Well, no, not exactly.  He actually met two Nintendo reps and not much else.  Seems that the event was taking place at a middle school in Birmingham, AL, and the “celestial event” that was hyped was nothing more than Kirby shaped balloons that were released into the sky.  Yep, you read that right.  No game cabinets, or other cool offerings, just the release of some balloons, and a press letter with what looked to be a sticker.  Funny thing is that the Nintendo has asked the school to allow the children to attend, but they denied the request.

Do I have to mention how this just adds fuel to the “what the hell is Nintendo doing” fire that has been building since E3.
