I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

How Was Your Day Sans Xbox Live

So today, Xbox Live users have had to go without seeing their friends online, multiplayer, and yes, no flashing yellow notepad icon telling you there are new events to view.  Out of curiousity, I am wondering if any of our readers have missed out on not having access to their Xbox Live features.

While it does not seem like much, I have to admit that not seeing friends coming online, and I missed out on seeing what achievements they have obtained since yesterday.  The whole connectivity thing is something that I personally have always taken for granted, and have never thought twice about, because it is just there in the background.  With my computer, I am always thinking of the fact that it is connected to the Internet, but not as much with my 360.  I never really put much thought into the fact that when I click on a friend, it is communicating with the outside world to get me all the info in their profile.  Or when I preview a movie, it is streaming it from a server located somewhere outside my house.

So while it has not been an inconvenience for me not to have access to Xbox Live today, I do have to admit that I missed it a little bit.  Thankfully, I did remember that there would be an outage, because I did not want to be the guy that called Microsoft looking for troubleshooting help on my Xbox Live connection.  And yes, you know at least one person did it, but you know they will not admit to it.

Sadly, one thing that I did enjoy a break from with this outage, is dealing with some of the vocally challenged users that you end up playing online in public rooms.  You know, the people that scream in your ear as they talk about what they are going to do to you, and how they will school you, while every sentence is dripping with obscenities.  And how can we forget all the teabagging that was missed out on today.  I can say that missing out on that was a good thing indeed.

It will be good to see the first of my friends pop up exclaiming that they are in fact, online, because strangely, that is a comforting thing to say.  About the only thing that would make it even better is if Microsoft pulled a fast one on us and released the dashboard update, but we know that won’t happen, right.  Right?
