Grand Theft Auto IV Set to Launch New Games For Windows Experience

Submitted by on September 23, 2008 – 5:05 pmNo Comment

A few podcasts ago, we had the news item mentioning Grand Theft Auto IV, picking up achievements and the Games for Windows branding.  All of us pondered on whether the new Games for Windows service that Microsoft has been discussing for the PC would come out with this game.  Well it looks like 1up.com got the goods from Microsoft.

It seems that the revamped service will launch with Grand Theft Auto IV, and will be comprised of a stand alone LIVE client and an accessible marketplace.  The stand alone client is huge, because it means I no longer have to open a game to see people on the LIVE service.  As for the Marketplace, it is suppose to behave similarly to the Xbox Live version, but no other details have been announced.  The dream scenario would be if my LIVE Arcade titles would cross over and work on my PC, but that is probably a bit too much to ask for from Microsoft.
