Amazon Rankings Hijack Spore
People have been lashing out everywhere when it comes to Spore and its DRM (Digital Rights Management). They have even been lashing out here, because I felt that the planned DRM for Spore was a change for EA, and a try at something different, akin to Steam.
But nowhere else has the vitrol been displayed than at Amazon, where people have gone on the attack in the commentary section of the Spore page. Some of the outtakes include:
It also is overpriced. This is actually a RENTAL, not a bought game because it only lets you install 3 times. If you install over 3 times then you must call EA customer support and beg them to let you play the game you bought. Did I mention the call is not free? If you live outside the U.S. it will be a very expensive call.
or this one:
I bought this game from Amazon. It hasn’t arrived yet, but when it does I’m not sure if I’ll even install it because of the DRM issue, specifically the 3 installs limit. I am one of those people who are always upgrading their PCs and I don’t really want to have to go begging EA to allow me to install software I have paid for
Right now, the average rating over 2,096 reviews is one star. Somewhere, Cooper Lawrence is probably having a laugh.
