Wii Sports Tennis makes an appearance in Smart Start commercial

Submitted by on August 10, 2008 – 5:23 pmOne Comment

The other night while watching TV, my keen gaming-detector senses (which Paul likes to call game-dar) went off. This Smart Start Strawberry Oat Bites commercial features a few seconds of Wii Sports Tennis. It took me a little while to come up with what the commercial was after the fact (thankfully my wife remembered that it wasn’t Special K or Kashi but this) but here it is. It’s brief and it’s kind of on-and-off, starting around the 0:05 mark and finishing around 0:11. At first it may not be apparent, but the woman is holding and swinging a Wii Remote. Eventually you’ll see the screen of the TV.

Interesting to see this kind of cross-promotion, and it shows just how pervasive Nintendo’s advertising is becoming. People have criticized Nintendo’s advertising efforts in the past, but it’s clear this is a very different Nintendo marketing machine than we’ve seen in the past. Head below for some stills from the commercial.
