The Godfather 2 Coming Sooner than Expected

    By Joe Haygood | August 1, 2008

Word from X-Play today is that EA CEO John Riccitello let the news out that The Godfather 2 may be coming sooner than later.  In the address to EA stockholders, Mr. Riccitello stated that sequel to The Godfather could come as early as late 2008 to early 2009.  The only timeframe that had been known on The Godfather 2 was fiscal year 2009.

The first Godfather game was a surprise to me with its presentation.  It took a “between the scenes” approach, putting the player in a peripheral character that was not in the movies, and had you set up the sequences that were in the movies, like finding the horse to cut its head off, or planting the guns for Michael Corleone in the bathroom.  It did get the knock of being a me-too clone off of the game Mafia: The Game, which in turn based its game loosely off of The Godfather movies.
