Spore Goes Gold After 2-Year Delay

EA has formally declared that Spore has gone gold and on September 5th (7th in Europe) we’ll get a peek at how well the many stages of evolution hang together and give gamers another Will Wright inspired supergame. Or not.

Wired has published a list of Spore release dates, starting from its debut in 2005 up to its final September 2008 release date, which it looks like it will be hitting. You can check out that list over here.

I hadn’t realized that Spore was delayed that long. It got me thinking that another ambitious game coming this fall has also been delayed quite a bit and has a lot to prove. The press has liked LittleBigPlanet on the PS3 so far, but there are some who aren’t convinced it will succeed as both a platformer and a creativity engine. Time will tell.
