Quantic Dreams to Return to Omikron on the PS3

Submitted by Joe Haygood on August 2, 2008 – 1:39 pmComments

Quantic Dream, the makers of Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit if in Europe) and Omikron: The Nomad Soul, have decided to make a sequel to Omikron, and it will be PS3 exclusive.  Unfortunately, not much else was detailed by Quantic Dream, but one would assume that this would be a continuation of the first game.

In the original Omikron, you were a person in the real world, that somehow, swapped places with your in-game counterpart, or at least that is how I remember it.  Omikron tried to mix several different genres together in a Matrix-like environment.  You had adventuring, a Street Fighter-like fighting mode, and then a first person shooter mode, all dependent on what course of action was needed.  Problem was that the game suffered from “jack of all trades, master of none” syndrome.  With more polish, it could have been great, but at least you could find a virtual version of David Bowie in the game, looking like he was still in his Ziggy Stardust days.
