New Dead Rising Rumor

So the latest concoction to be turned out by the Internet Rumor Mill (TM) is that Dead Rising may see its way to the PS3. Personally, I’d love to see this come to fruition. Dead Rising single-handedly almost made me buy a Xbox360. Now that I’m sitting on the PS3 side of the fence, there is a vacant hole in my gaming heart that can only be filled by zombie survival slash-and-hack, and right now the PS3 has been victim to the “fat kid in dodge ball” syndrome: last picked and always out. Even the other kid is getting a graphically-crippled and interaction-enhanced version. Yes, I’m looking at you, Wii.

Now this rumor comes about due to a comment by Capcom’s John Diamonon on the official Playstation blog on an un-related post (about Bionic Commando): “You haven’t seen the last of Dead Rising“. You’re right. As early as September 2006, there were already rumblings about Dead Rising 2. At that point in time it was rumored to be a PS3 exclusive. By the beginning of this year, the rumor looks to have changed to being developed for the PS3 (alongside of the Xbox360). Right now, I’d place this current rumor more in the Dead Rising 2 basket, until something more definitive or official is announced.
