The Conduit wins Best of Wii at E3 2008 at GameTrailers

    By Stephen Munn | July 31, 2008

Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 5 was the best title at E3 2008 for Xbox 360 and also for PlayStation 3, according to GameTrailers. It is probably the most exciting game coming to my PS3 as well, I’d put it well above Home or Little Big Planet in terms of how much I want to see it on my TV. Probably won’t even buy Little Big Planet.

Anyway, the big story about Wii this year was how Nintendo’s press conference seemed to ignore the core gamer, depending on how you define the core gamer. I think we all agree that their new spokesperson Cammy needs to find another line of work, even if she is easier to understand than Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. GameTrailers feels that the best game shown at E3 for Wii was not Castlevania Judgment, Mega Man 9, Animal Crossing: City Folk, Call of Duty: World at War, or anything else with a big label like that. It’s The Conduit, that slick sci-fi FPS we’ve been hearing so much about that looks like it’s not even running on Wii.

The Conduit currently does not have a publisher. The developer, High Voltage Software, has said that they have multiple offers for publishing, but want to wait until the game is nearly done before choosing one so that they can put features into the game that the publisher, who gets final say on such things once they’re footing the bill, might deem unnecessary for the platform. In the mean time, High Voltage makes lots of money on licensed fare you or I might never consider purchasing to fund the development themselves. Sounds noble, we’ll see how it turns out.

Oh, and a word on this trailer… why don’t the aliens make their armor out of automobile?
