Source Claims Bungie Already Working on Halo 4

    By George Walker | July 3, 2008

The guys over at SarcasticGamer.com are known for their hilarious parodies and the SarcasticGamer podcasts. Interestingly, they’ve also been able to allegedly score an inside source that has some interesting claims about Halo 4.

A very good and anonymous source tells us that Halo 4 is already in full development over at Bungie.  I wish to God She/He/It had more details to share but at this point all She/He/It can confirm for sure is that Halo 4 is an official project being developed by Bungie, at this very moment.

With more than 20 million copies of Halo 3 sold worldwide, I know it’s a no-brainer that the series would continue somehow.  It’s nice to get this sort of reassurance from a source who has never been wrong for us before.

True, it’s a no-brainer that Halo 4 would be under development somewhere. However, I’m surprised that Bungie is working on this and not Microsoft. If you remember, the whole point of Bungie leaving Microsoft was to escape the Microsoft culture and to work on non-Halo IP’s. Based on comments from both Microsoft and Bungie, such as this comment from an interview with Harold Ryan:

… there are guys that have shipped Halo games for ten years, and they are definitely ready to work on new IPs or create new things.

Well, I guess Bungie has had a change of heart. Hey, if they’re ready to jump back into the Halo well, more power to them. Honestly, though, I was interested to see what non-Halo properties they could come up with. Who knows, maybe they’re doing both.

He said they are just in development which could mean that they are just at the beginning of it. I imagine that they are working on a new IP but at the same time working on the Future of the Halo franchise. Maybe Halo 4 will be a Xbox 720 launch title...doubtful but you never know these days. I would rather see Bungie do a proper sequel then anyone else so I hope that is true.

I am surprised i really did thunk that they would end it with halo 3 despite the ending. i was hopeing they would just make a better multipayer every 2 years and sell it at half the price. Also bungie is a huge company its deff possible for them to be working on 2-3 titles. As for myself i haven't really played much halo so many other games to finish and i still find gears of war more appealing.

I think we were all given the impression that Bungie was sick of working on Halo. I'm surprised at the idea that they could be working on it more, regardless of money. I honestly think they'd be better served by redoing the Marathon series for modern consoles and PCs.
    • Its not going to be called Halo 4 its going to be called Halo Return of the Covenant
