It is a fine line when attempting to give a gamer the ability to make choices or decisions, and actually having those decisions or choices end with a satisfying payoff.  Some games will give you …

Orange Box PS3 petition hits the 2500 mark

Submitted by Stephen Munn on July 26, 2008 – 11:44 amComments

As you probably already know, the rushed PS3 port of Valve’s The Orange Box has become something of a point of contention between those who wish to play this on PS3 and those who brought it to PS3, particularly those who wish to play more than just Portal. We brought you word of an online petition, and while you can make your own judgment on whether petitions are worth it, this one has now surpassed a count of 2500 names with more than 27000 visits to the site it’s housed on.

Taking a step back, 2500 names is not a lot when compared to the number of copies EA has sold of The Orange Box on PS3. I’ve never heard of a study that extrapolated consumer discontent based on petition signatures, but over time I would expect this number to increase, particularly as the PS3 continues to outsell the 360 and this is likely to be a game new PS3 owners would pick up when migrating from last generation.

Thanks to Toni T for the tip on this milestone, and congratulations to Mike Seedon on the attention this has drawn.

Nearly 30,000 visits, that's pretty incredible in only a few weeks. PS3 gamers deserve what they pay for, they deserve to experience TF2 to the max. Valve has to fix it, along with EA of course, as the online is provided by EA ONLINE.

What exactly is wrong with the port? Why is it worse than the 360's?

    @ Fruitiger

Click on the link located in this article, and you'll find out.
  • Yeah, it was a shame what happened to the PS3 version, but as we have mentioned in our previous podcasts, Gabe Newell doomed this version right from the start. They did not work on it, and he disparaged anything good about the PS3. I feel bad, but if you bought The Orange Box after the kind words from Gabe Newell, you kind of had it coming to you.

Playstation 3 is a much better system then the Xbox 360. I pay so much money for a game. I should run the way it was to be played. not like crap. Fix the game!!!
  • That truly is one of the weakest box art examples in recent memory.

Looks like the website updated...the HOME page actually. I checked it out yesterday, and today there's something new..a paragraph written by Mike Seedon i guess. Title of the paragraph is "- My word on Orange Box PS3 -"

What I find pitiful is there's people who bought it for the consoles. You want to enjoy Team Fortress 2 the way it was meant to be? Then buy a friggin' PC. Play it the way its meant to be played, with a keyboard and mouse, you plebs.

Spoken like a true elitist, Andrew. PC gaming is fine for some, but is far too expensive to keep current for most. If the game was less than excellent on 360, those who wish to play it on PS3 would have a much weaker argument.

    @ Andrew:

Before barking, please at least do some research. Every single PS3 game, therefore TF2, is playable using mouse and keyboards. Allgames are compatible, every single one of them. You need to buy something though, a little thing called XFPS, but that's all.
  • ant
xfps is crap. laggy as hell. u need a XIM
  • @Stephen I would say that TF2 is a game that will run on many PC systems, but that is besides the point. Control is the least of the issues with this game. It is more a matter of a game that no one at Valve wanted to be made, but EA did, so it got made by an "un-named" studio.

Sales were less than handy, so it will never get a patch. All one has to do is listen to my rantings about waiting over 200 days and counting for a Kane and Lynch patch that will never get made due to poor sales on the PC.
