Mythos Beta – Exit Stage Left

    By Joe Haygood | July 22, 2008

So, Flagship seems to have had some issues of late, including the possibility of losing all of its intellectual property.  They have claimed that this is not true and that everything is going fine.  Well except for that big fat, “the servers are being turned off on Mythos” sign that they forgot to mention.

In case you have not heard by now, the Mythos beta has been halted as of last Friday at midnight, and it will not be turned back on in the foreseeable future.  This becomes the latest in a series of strange press releases from Flagship, Hanbitsoft and Comerica as to who owns what properties, and what happens to the users in the end.

Mythos was the free project that Flagship had been working on alongside Hellgate: London.  Mythos slowly gained a lot of favorable press, due to its addictive style of gameplay, remeniscent of Diablo II.  Nothing has been steted over whether the project will be started up anytime soon, or what even happens to the information that was given to sign up for an account.

Sadly it's all about $$$. Why can't it be about love?
    • Because love is great and all, but it doesn't put food on the table (or pay for video games.)
    • Wouldn't be sweet if gaming was about love and care over design...of course, sooner or later the apple would fall from the tree, corrupting the love.
