Konami makes Castlevania Judgment 3D fighter official

    By Stephen Munn | July 2, 2008

Now that Nintendo Power has spilled the undead beans on Castlevania Judgment, Konami’s made it official with a press release of their own.

With 3D environments rendered on Wii, players can choose sides in an epic battle of good versus evil using iconic Castlevania characters designed by famed manga artist Takeshi Obata. Using the motion-sensing controls of the Nunchuk and Wii Remote™, players can slash, stab and whip their way across a variety of stages and environmental elements with various surrounding objects as weapons. Select characters can also set traps and make use of monsters on the field to achieve victory in a clash of epic proportions. As an added bonus, players are also able to compete head-to-head using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection™ and connect with Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia on the Nintendo DS™ to unlock bonus gameplay content.

Yeah, so that’s a reiteration that the game will have online play. Specifically, online player-vs-player fighting. Very nice, and not very easy to pull off. Has Konami succeeded doing online fighting with any of their fighting games? What fighting games does Konami have? Rumble Roses springs to mind. That was Konami, wasn’t it? Did that have online play?

No direct screens or video yet. I’m guessing we’ll see more of this at E3? I hope?

Rumble Roses didn’t have online play. And I don’t think it was that stellar of a fighter.

Rumble Roses XX had multiplayer on the 360, but it was an average brawler at best. Once you figured out how to use Benekage properly, you could take anyone out inside of 30-45 seconds. Way too cheap power move.

And I should have added, that the multiplayer was good, but you could never find anyone online to play. Humiliation matches were interesting. I still think that Itagaki has something to do with this one.

I don’t think so. It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Igarashi has not, to my knowledge, worked on a fighting game before. I’m excited about the potential in the character roster for this game.
