Birmingham Salvo Wins the 2008 CGS Title

Over the weekend, the Championship Gaming Series held their 2008 CGS Finals, with the Birmingham Salvo (England) holding off their opponents, the San Francisco Optx (US). The Birmingham team will receive $500,000 for their winning performance, with the Optx still scoring a nice $150,000 for their second place effort. MVPs of the league this year are Dean “Picaso” Sutton and David “Daveyskills” Kelly, with each scoring a nice $25,000 payday.
The Championship Gaming Series is a worldwide league hosting teams from Asia, Europe, US, Latin America and Australia. The games used for this year’s competition included Counterstrike Source and FIFA 08 on the PC and Dead or Alive 4 and Forza Motorsports 2 on the console side. There are 10 players on each squad, five making up a Counterstrike Source team, one player for FIFA 08, and two players for both DOA4 and Forza 2.
