    Aeromatic: Price Drops

    By Shane | July 7, 2008

I finally picked up a PSP this past week after only being out for 4 years. Since the PSP’s introduction at E3 2003 and its release in May of 2004, the PSP has sold 37 million units worldwide, which is still not as high as the Gameboy or Nintendo DS, but it’s getting up there. While Paul picked up a new slim PSP a few weeks ago as an upgrade over his “fat” original PSP, this is my first one. Why did I wait so long? I don’t really have an answer to that aside from a lack of interest in the games during its birth. What provoked me to pick one up now? The answer is simple: The price. At $169 for the core model and $200 for the bundle, the PSP has gone down $100 since its release. Price drops usually happen right around Christmas, so here’s hoping the PS3 will go down in price again over or right after the winter holidays following the supposed Xbox 360 price reduction. It may just spark my interest in another purchase for me.

Unfortunately that doctored screen shot of Gran Turismo 4 mobile for PSP is probably never going to happen. Not that I’m into GT4 or anything, but it’s just another franchise that was announced for the PSP that never made it there.

A price drop for the PS3 would be very very nice . . . and it may happen before Christmas, word is that the 360 is getting a price cut so Sony may respond with one of their own o_O

The thing is…didn’t the PS3’s price just drop not too long ago? I guess there’s no reason why it can’t happen again.
