Tecmo Employees Join In Itagaki Suing

Submitted by on June 17, 2008 – 2:47 amNo Comment

Tecmo seems to be in hot water.

On June 16th, two Tecmo employees filed suit with the Tokyo District Court for unpaid wages, demanding 8.3 million yen (US$77,000) in payment. According to the suit, the workers were illegally placed on a “flexible hours” work scheme, starting four years ago.

From my understanding, a lot of eastern video game developers don’t treat their employees well. Long hours, little pay and work environment are all factors that could of led up to this incident. 100 hours of unpaid overtime sounds like slavery. I’m hoping this will change things for our eastern friends. They deserve better than this.
