Tiny Diggers – An iPad Construction Truck Game for Kids Age 2-5

The first Marvel Ultimate Alliance was a surprise hit in my house on the 360.  It had a great selection of playable characters, stuck close to the comic world, and gave you some tactile feedback on what your choices did to the world as a whole.

Well, now we get work, by way of Kotaku, that the next installment in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series will take place during the Civil War storyline. 

If you are not an avid comic book reader, the Civil War story had Iron Man, and several other prominent figures opting to have heroes register their true identities with the Federal Govenrnment after a disaster leveled a town and killed roughly 900 people.  This in turn split the superhero community into two groups.  One for registration, lead by the aforementioned, Iron Man, and the others that were against registration, lead by the ultimate patriot, Captain America.

The game is suppose to give the players over 20 playable characters, and you will be forced to choose a side in the conflict.  Some of the characters mentioned are The Hulk, Human Torch, Spider-Man and Venom.  The game is to come to the PS3, PS2, Wii, 360, PSP and DS.  Sadly, it looks like the PC is getting left out of this round in the series, or will be ported to later, as was done with the first game.

Just my Marvel geeky side getting in the way of this story, but The Hulk is an interesting choice, but it can’t logically happen as he was sent to another galaxy by a group of head super heroes (the Illuminati), consisting of Black Bolt, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Namor, Charles Xavier and Mr. Fantastic.  So I am not sure how he gets into the game, because he does not come back until after the events in Civil War.  Also, the Human Torch, gets the tar kicked out of him in retaliation for the destruction that happened in the beginning of the Civil War series, so I am assuming this will not happen.

I do like the idea of picking a side, as it adds some replayability to the game.  I just hope that they foster up two different versions of the story rather than shoehorning the two groups into the same storyline.  And I want to have Captain America in the game, so we can put a major beat down on Iron Man, because he had it coming.
