Ready At Dawn Studios Discontinues PSP Development

Submitted by Joe Haygood on June 9, 2008 – 9:09 pmComments

Ready At Dawn, a rather large contributor to the good PSP game market, has decided to focus its development on the Wii, and put up a little picture of all of their PSP devkits in boxes, ready to be shipped back to Sony.

The last game that Ready At Dawn worked on was the highly acclaimed God of War: Chains of Olympus.  It is sad to see them go, but Stephen alluded to this very fact in our last podcast. He commented on the lack of good games coming to the PSP, and this just adds a little more proof to that statement.

Not much else to be said, but check out the official word on Ready At Dawn’s website.

This article is featerd on joystiq.com btw great article this is probply the reason why im not getting a psp 2 many developers are dropping the system
  • Why are portable system's lifespans so short? They never make it as long as consoles.
  • Yep they said that GOW:COO would be their last PSP game. I haven't seen any announcements about what systems their next games will be written for.

It would be silly to stop developing for Wii unless, of course, the dog painting game sells as badly for it as it did on the PS2. Or just stop making dog painting games, right?

I wouldn't be shocked if Sony entrusted these guys with one of their first-party franchises in need of some attention given their proven track record, especially with platformers. Let's see, Sucker Punch is busy with Infamous, so maybe a PS3 version of Sly Cooper? A full-sized Jak and Daxter game?
