I saw elsewhere that Bioshock will be the first 3rd party title to get Trophies on the PS3. If Civ Rev had it that would be nice.

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/06/30/everything-you-need-to-know-about-firmware-2-40/

Anyway I forget how easy it is to back up one's saved games on the PS3. That's why they won't retroactively apply trophies to saved games.

http://kotaku.com/5020758/ps3-trophies-not-applied-to-old-saves

And there's a new FAQ up at the Blog. Looks like no browser access from within a game. Bummer, no Google searches while playing after all.

Well, you wouldn't want the trophy represented by a carpenter's cup, would you? Either way, I still found it amusing to watch the trophies video, and the guy seemed to be looking for any word he could use that wasn't "achievement".

A jeweled cup? You've been watching The Last Crusade again haven't you?

Now that we have 2.40's feature set I can update an article I've been working on for a long time about what the PS3 Firmware really needs and finally post it. I also want to take my own hands-on impressions into account before I tidy that up.

While trophies are nice, I think it misses out on the quick glance factor of achievement points. When I look at someone's profile, I can see a numerical score or how they are doing in comparison to me. I can break it down by game, and then, if I deem necessary, what they got in the game vs me.

I could be overestimating this, but it just seems like a number works better than a jeweled cup, at least in this sense.
