I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

Oft-proposed Wii lightsaber duel game to be a reality

It wasn’t too long ago that it became clear that an upcoming pair of games based on the Star Wars Clone Wars canon would be coming exclusively to Nintendo’s platforms. Now, Newsarama’s adding interest to what looked to be a throw-away concept by revealing the subtitle that’s getting tacked onto the game: Lightsaber Duels.

There will be destructible environments, the current big game buzzword, and force powers will be a big factor in the game. Cut out a piece of a pillar from the surrounding building, then force throw it at your opponent, for example.

Yeah, that’s right. The game we’ve been clamoring for since the Wii Remote was first shown rising from a pool of white paint or milk or whatever the crap that was is finally on the way. It remains to be seen how well implemented this mechanic will be, but we have to assume Krome Studios won’t just fling this at the white box without extensive refinement. This needs a very tight gesture system where we can flip out like Star Wars Kid and look good on screen anyway.

In addition, some info here on the DS game.

In addition to the Wii-only game, Lucasarts will be releasing Star Wars The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance exclusively for the Nintendo DS. This game has you controlling two Jedi simultaneously at all times. The more you play with them, the more powerful their combos and special abilities become. It will also feature wi-fi co-op, allowing a friend to jump in and assist you, then drop out later for you to continue the mission on your own. All movement and Lightsaber combat will be controlled solely by the DS Stylus.
