Gametap Adds Deus Ex To Its Free Service
By Joe Haygood | June 6, 2008
Gametap is making a name for itself in adding a new lease on life for great games, and putting some of them out there for free. The newest title added to this list is Deus Ex, the best game to come out of the unholy game house known as Ion Storm.
The game has you playing as a nano-augmented soldier, that works for UNATCO, the military arm of the United Nations. Your character, JC Denton, starts to realize that all is not what it seems and you have to make choices that really affect the way you play the game and how it ends.
This was revolutionary gameplay at its time, as it was rare for an FPS to be so deep in story, as well as customization. If you did not like shooting people, you could beef up your hacking skills. It just gave players so many ways to beat each area in the game. Throw in the Illuminati, MJ-12 and other conspiracy plots and you have one of the finest games ever made.
So if you have never played the game, you owe it to yourself to check it out. And if you want to see how wrong a sequel can be, download Deus Ex 2.
