Amp Your Game Pro Tour, Underway

The Amp Your Game National Gaming Tour by the Amp Energy Drink people have begun the cross-Canada, get-paid-to-play gaming tour starting right here in Halifax. The tour will roll across Canada all summer, stopping in 9 major cities including Halifax, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver to name a few. The event which is like the Canadian/American Idol of Gaming is looking for Canada’s best gamer to be the fourth member of the tour, and make some big bucks.

We were there today snapping up some photos of the very busy event, which coincidentally is stationed right beside a High School and massive Skate Park – that’s some good targeting right there, boys! The big tent housed over 80 game stations and one Halo 3 LAN station. I saw a lot of new titles that just came out this month, as well as older titles like Gears of War, Call of Duty 4 and Wii Sports. But the focus of the event was the Halo 3 competition which would go unnoticed to the uninformed noob, as the kids playing Halo 3 were quietly tucked away on one side of the tent desperately trying to avoid having to work a McJob this summer.

The Halifax tour ends this Sunday.

While I was there, I met the boys from Halophax, that’s ‘Halo’ and ‘Halifax’ combined – which I thought was a hilariously crafty name. These guys host local Halo game events, too. Check out their site.
