Prototype Delayed Until 2009

Submitted by on May 6, 2008 – 1:21 am3 Comments

Well, a couple of podcasts ago, we discussed the fact that Prototype was scrapping its multiplayer component to focus on a sharper and immersive single player experience.  Well, today, the other shoe dropped, with Sierra announcing the delay of Prototype until 2009.

Word on the delay was that developer Radical, wanted more time to create the world that they had developed for the game.  Sierra also made the comment that with the game being pushed back to April 1st, 2009 (irony anyone), the multiplayer modes may be added back into the game.

The delay covers all three versions of the game, so it is not a platform specific issue.

This game is developed by Radical which was right around the corner from me when I lived in Vancouver. Their glowing neon sign I could see from my apartment.

Looking forward to seeing more on this IP.
