Play Gran Turismo In Real Life With New Nissan GT-R

    By Joe Haygood | May 29, 2008

Anyone that has played Gran Turismo or even Forza as of late, understands the need to constantly look at the telemetry data that is generated to tweek and adjust your car to maximize performance.  There are people that will spend hours pouring over this data, hoping to find the best way to setup their car to win the next race.  For these people, it is all about getting to first place in the lowest possible time imaginable.

    via MSNBC

Well, imaging my surprise when I found out that the Nissan GT-R is coming to the States, after years of only being available in racing games like Gran Turismo.  But even better, is the fact that the designers of Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital, were brought in by Nissan to help recreate the tuning experience for people that have played Gran Turismo over the years.

The car will come with several buttons that allow for tuning of everything from shocks to stability control.  The car has seventeen display modes on the dash that let the driver see everything from steering angle to lateral G turning forces.  The cherry on top of all of this delicious auto goodness is that the car has a SD card slot where you can download all of your data in a spreadsheet format for review.  Take a brief moment to digest all of this while I wipe the drool off of the floor.

Now the one issue with all of this is if you want to play, the price of admission is $69,850, but for that price you get all of this tuning goodness, not to mention a 480 HP 3.8L V6 that will pull a 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.  Just make sure you don’t have any backseat passengers, as it is more of a rumbleseat than a backseat.
