Gametap Closes Editorial Site, Grimm Coming This Summer
By Joe Haygood | May 29, 2008
A year ago, Gametap started to build up its roster of editorial content, while moving their video content to the Gametap website, and out of the gameplayer. While not a huge move, it was notable, that Tuner was trying to put a focus on generating reviews, articles and other items with its own in house editorial staff.
While this sounded great at the time, there was one issue. People don’t go to Gametap necessarily for editorial content. A lot of reviews on Gametap focused on games that were not even available through the gameplayer, which does not help in gaining subscribers.

Well, today word came down that the editorial staff that were hired on a year ago are going to be out of a job soon, as Gametap has decided to end the editorial content to focus on getting more games into Gametap. While they will still have videos and some articles, they will be folded into the game pages and not on a separate part of the site. No word on whether this affects the video productions that they have been working on , but it would not surprise me to see that part of the site to end as well, which would be too bad as the Tomb Raider animated stuff was really great.
At the end of the article, they did give us a small update on their in house designed title from our favorite ex-patriot, American McGee’s Grimm. Seems that the game is on track for a summer release. For those that have not followed development of Grimm, the game takes a look at the fairy tales that are in the book, Grimm’s Fairy Tales. The game is to be episodic, with new episodes coming out on a weekly basis. They are also exclusive to the Gametap service.
