Beyond Good and Evil Sequel Confirmed at Ubisoft’s Ubidays

Submitted by Joe Haygood on May 28, 2008 – 4:05 pmComments

At the Ubidays, the Ubisoft event in France, Yves Guillemot took the stage to confirm not only that the rumored Beyond Good and Evil sequel was happening, but that they had a teaser trailer for the event.  The trailer above is game engine footage, so we are getting a good approximation of what the game will look like when it comes out.  No platform was announced, or a release date, but I hope that Ubisoft has learned from past mistakes and releases this outside of any other competition.

I don't know, Joe. I think it's more likely the PC version comes out at launch with the others, and the PS2 version perhaps simultaneous with Wii, assuming all versions aren't out at the same time like they were the first time around. I would expect a PS2 version, if they make one, would certainly be similar to the Wii one.
  • Well, I would say that it will come to the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 (with BG&E 1, hitting the Originals marketplace at the same time), and possibly the PC and the Wii. I would say that the last two are probably delayed. The Wii delay will be to modify the game mechanics or to deliver a different gaming experience, while the PC will be delayed to maximize the profitability of the console versions.

Ahem. It will be interesting to see what platforms the game comes out on. BG&E was on PS2, Gamecube, Xbox and PC, so one could assume they'd do the same this time around. The PS2 version sold best with the largest install base, but the PS3 has the smallest this time around. Still, the Wii's specs are so much lower than the competition. Heck, as long as it comes to Wii or PS3, I'll be happy.
