It’s always sad to see advertising dollars dumped into the hype-machine to promote a bad game. It’s even sadder though, to see a great game go virtually unnoticed.

Nanostray and the recently released Nanostray 2 both fall into the latter category. They’re both great, and they both appear to have gone largely unnoticed by the general gaming public.

For those who don’t know, the Nanostray games are modern shooters for the DS. The graphics are good, the levels and bosses are cool, and a large selection of sub-weapons allows for varied attack strategies.

The best part about these games for me is that they are evergreen. I’ve been playing the original Nanostray for nearly two years and it is still on my short list of must-take games when I travel. You can jump into this (or any good shooter) for five minutes or for fifty, and it never really gets old. For me, these are pretty much the ultimate games for the DS.

You don’t have to be a die-hard shooter fan to appreciate these games either. In fact, if you’ve ever liked any shooter, you’ll probably be able to enjoy these. And, you have little excuse not to at least try out the first Nanostray as you can pick it up used for under ten dollars.
