PS3 Isn’t Just The Most Upgradeable Blu-Ray Player
A new issue of DL.TV doesn’t even take on Blu-ray players as part of the show proper but Robert Heron notes that he’s been in the lab comparing them. In addition to being very upgradeable and taking on all the latest features of Blu-ray, he notes a couple of other great things about the PS3 related to Blu-ray I hadn’t thought of.
He notes that it’s got Wi-Fi built in which lets you very easily integrate it into your home network if you don’t happen to have an ethernet cable by your entertainment center. He also notes that it starts up and starts playing a disk far faster than any of the other Blu-ray players on the market. Like it or not heavy copy protection and encryption is part of the Blu-ray standard just as it was with the HD-DVD standard. The beefy multi-core brain of the PS3 seems to do really well in getting things rolling quickly when playing a Blu-ray movie.
