To the middle manager working in the electronics department at Target who simply assumes that when a grown man reserves two copies of the new Pokémon game, he must be reserving them for his two kids: Bite me! Pokémon ain’t just for kids you name tag wearing register jockey! Seriously, I’m almost as excited about slamming Pokémon Mystery Dungeon into my DS as I am to slam GTAIV into my 360. Once upon a time I too assumed “Pokémon” meant crappy kiddie game. Then I played one. Now they are among my favorite games. If you’ve never played one, you’re missing out. No joke. The sister versions of “Pokémon Mystery Dungeon” hit shelves this Sunday April 20th. I’ll be first in line.

My avoiding the Pokémon games is far more about valuing the small amount of gaming time I have than hate for the franchise. I bought a box of used games not long ago and nearly every Pokémon game was in there (it was a hell of a deal). I sold off every game on eBay and most of the money I made came from those games. I had to test every one and found myself wanting to keep some of them even from just a few minutes of play.

Diamond/Pearl were really good, but I think they’re all pretty much the same, Diamond is the only one I ever really played much of though. It’s not like you’ll lose a lot of story or anything by starting with the newest.

Cool thanks. I just started “The World Ends with You” and I am enthralled. When you get a chance, pick it up as well. (Jupiter/Square Enix created the game = Same people who created Kingdom Hearts)

Yeah, I am anxiously awaiting the World Ends With you actually, very stoked for it, but it sounds like the type of Japanese RPG with an uber-emo aura and that always turns me off. Definitely looking forward to the mechanic though.

Pokemon is my guilty pleasure game. I have to play it in the closet. I cant come out of the closet….

Kittenkiller – thekranz is right, iif you want to try a Pokémon game, Diamond and Pearl are the most modern, polished games.
Sifer2400 – The Target guy said something to the effect of, “Someone’s going to be very happy when you get home tonight.” I took the “someone” to mean kids of which I have none. Sadly, I did not stand up for my Pokémon pride. I just laughed with him and agreed. The games are actually for my girlfriend and I. It’s one of the few games I can get her to play. It’s nice to play the different versions with a friend for easy trading.
