Aeropodcast #27: We’re Boring, But Wombat Makes Us Highbrow

    By Joe Haygood | April 9, 2008

In the bottom half of our twin bill podcast post today, we have Wombat from CheapAssGamer.com as our guest of honor, joining a packed room, that included George, Paul, Joe and Stephen, back from his hibernation chamber.

Our discussion started off with the state of games in the British media and whether it is much ‘ado about nothing or is this a trend that will make the sale of games more difficult on both sides of the pond. All of us looked at is as more of an issue with the overbearing British tabloid press, rather than an issue with games.

Moving forward, we also looked at the issue of the save game dilemma and the fact that the ability to save anywhere, or clear and concise save checkpoints are starting to disappear from today’s games. Mass Effect, Patapon and PC ports were the focus of the problem.

Wombat then gave us a great summary on the Legend of Frank discussion that started on the CAGcast a few weeks ago. He also took the time to let us know how our show notes read about as well as Tolstoy’s “War and Peace”.

We also gave a shout out to Eric Kranz, who took our advice and built a kick ass gaming PC. Congrats and thanks for the feedback. We also have our trivia contest floating out there with the following question:

There have been seven games in the Leisure Suit Larry franchise. However, Sierra skipped the fourth installment in the series, going from Part III to Part V. What was the reasoning behind not having a fourth installment in the series?

The person that gets the answer right will get a copy of Audiosurf, Half Life 2 and Half Life 2: Episode I via Steam.

    Recorded: Saturday April 5th, 2008.
Length: 1:13:44, 119 MB. Download it directly from here.

Damn, another shout out and it takes me this long to listen...I'm kind of a dick, sorry.

The PC is awesome and just gives a different experience that I don't get from the PS360Wii's that I also own. It's satisfying to be able to play Crysis on my own rig.

Keep up the good work guys, and I hope I was the only entrant into the contest this week, I've been itching to buy Audiosurf!

Oh, and next time, more PC talk!
