Brawl midnight launch was too much to bear.

I wasn’t certain at first whether I’d be able to make the midnight launch at my local Gamestop in Latham, New York. It turned out we went after all, but I was surprised to find an enormous crowd, which then became an even more enormous line. As if that weren’t enough, the Sam’s Club down the row had an equally large crowd. It was about 35¬∫F out there, so we sat in the car to wait, but as the crowd grew and it was clear Gamestop did not have anything remotely like a battle plan for this thing, we decided that we’d probably be waiting at least another hour just to leave there with a copy of this game, so we went home.

Note the people in line wearing sweatshirts and shorts. What is with that? It’s even worse than the people who were there in their pajamas.

I’m planning to head back there when they open today to pick up my copy, which I have a preorder on.

My wait at the Lincoln, NE Sam’s Club was in a heated lobby so the temperature wasn’t a factor. They also had 3 lanes working so things moved pretty quickly. It was a smooth operation for their first video game midnight launch. I’m hoping it won’t be their last.

Ours was snowed out due to 20 inches of snow and a county-wide driving ban.
