Sony realized that they moved a lot of PSP units this past holiday season due to the Daxter and Battlefront bundles, so they have decided to do another one of these bundles, but this time around, mix it in with God of War: Chains of Olympus, a UMD version of Superbad and lastly, a download voucher for a free copy of Syphon Filter: Combat Ops. The PSP will be bright red in color and sport a bad ass portrait of Kratos on the back of the unit, staring at anyone watching you play. A front side view of the unit is after the jump.

Also, Sony has figured out that putting Metal Gear Solid 4 in a PS3 bundle will probably move more hardware units. Sometime in late Q2 2008, Metal Gear Solid 4 will be in a box with an 80GB PS3 and a Dualshock PS3 controller. The bundle will sell for $499.99. While this sounds great to gamers, I think it will still look to high in price for the average consumer that walks into the store.

I like the red PSP enough that it just might be enough for me to upgrade to the new unit. I’m thinking seeing the red in person will give it a darker, bloodier look, which is what would cinch it for me.

The MGS4 bundle is pretty sweet because it’s the same price as the MotorStorm bundle and you get the killer game plus the Dual Shock 3. It only becomes less of a deal if they drop the price of the 40GB and 80GB units ahead of this model’s introduction, which they could do by $50 or so and still make it a reasonably buy.
