Hot Shots Golf 5GB
Another PS3 game, another required 5GB install. Hot on the heels of Capcom requiring a 5 Gig install of Devil May Cry 4 on the big black behemoth we have a pre-release version of Hot Shots Golf: Out Of Bounds also requiring a 5 Gig install. The folks at PS3Fanboy found out about this the hard way and were left twiddling their thumbs while waiting for it to finish so they could play the game.
That’s a pretty big chunk of a hard drive. If more games are going to need that kind of install to play on the PS3, that’s going to limit their audience. I really don’t want to have to decide what game I can play based on whether it is installed or not instead of what game I feel like playing.
That said, this is not a final version of the game, which is due out next month, but I’m betting the install part won’t be changing. Even so I’ve liked HSG4 on the PS2 and HSG Open Tee on the PSP so I’ll take a close look at this one. There’s also a sequel to Open Tee coming our way sometime soon, and that will have the same criteria that will decide whether I want to buy it. First, will it have voice chat with the online play options. Second, it must allow me to unlock things when playing online as well as offline. The hands-on information at PS3Fanboy is good but since the game’s not out yet the online features of it weren’t switched on.
