Stor3d: PSP Store integration; Ape Quest for PSP; Super Stardust HD 2.0 and demo; Kane & Lynch demo.

superstardusthd_reflectedTonight’s PlayStation Store update on the PS3 brings us the custom soundtrack and new stat capturing features of Super Stardust HD along with a brand new demo of the USD 9.99 game. Alongside that demo is one for Kane & Lynch: Dead Men along add-ons #3 and #4 for Folklore that are available bundled for a slightly lower price, three new Rock Band Tunes, and two Need For Speed: Pro Street cars you can either buy or earn in-game for free.

The PSP Store’s offerings can now be bought and downloaded for transfer to the PSP using your PS3 via a new “PSP Games” category, bringing PS3 owners without a Windows PC in from the cold. This includes a brand new title called Ape Quest, featuring the monkeys from the Ape Escape games. This three-level game can be bought at USD 9.99 per level, USD 19.99 for all three, and there’s also a free “starter pack” or demo.

Check out a new Burnout Paradise trailer sporting the new title music track from Guns N Roses ahead of the game’s release this January 22nd and if you’ve got a hankering for some portable or big-screen retro fun you can pick up a new addition to the PS3/PSOne downloadable titles: Crash Bandicoot 2 for USD 5.99. Could the third game in the series be right around the corner? I liked that one when I had the chance to play it on PSOne back in the day.

Also in the free category are two new PAIN themes featuring Jarvis and The Dude, respectively.

I’m excited to get the new Super Stardust HD upgrade but I think I’m still less than a third of my way through Folklore so I’m not likely to buy those Add-Ons anytime soon. The Ape Quest demo is typical Ape Escape fare on the PSP with a generally by-the-numbers fantasy RPG mixed in with mini-games, unusual weapons, and some mild comedy. It’s cute and might be worth a look if the price drops.

  • Why o' Why would you even mention the fact that a Kane and Lynch demo is available on PSN. No one should be encouraged to play this game in the state that it is in.

It is bad enough that it sold over a million copies, virtually guaranting a sequel, and more torturous gameplay.
