Stalker Arrested after Making Contact via Xbox Live
Seems that Xbox Live is becoming more like MySpace than it would like to be. Joshua Stetar, a 20-year-old New York native, started up what he thought was a new relationship via Xbox Live with a 15-year-old girl after several games of Halo 3. The girl, unfortunately, did not see things the same way.
Shortly after the Halo 3 matches, Joshua, started to send flowers and gifts after finding her address via Google. He was also sending thousands of text messages to the girl and her cousin after finding out the cell phone numbers for both parties. Things came to a head when he rented a U-Haul truck and decided to swing by the girl’s house a few times. He also sent a lovely text message threatening to “rape her and her sister”. Needless to say, the cops promptly arrested the man at a local hotel after tracing the cell phone messages.
While I won’t go as far as FileFront did, I would say that in this day and age, you need to always be careful of the people that you talk to on Xbox Live, or anywhere else on the web.
