Sony to Detail Skype for PSP at CES
It looks like last year’s Skype on PSP rumor is coming true. Sony’s CES site indicates that Skype is indeed coming to the portable. Gamespot picked up the story today and got a Sony representative to say just enough to warrant a mention there: “further details will be announced shortly.” CES will run from January 7th to 10th.
I’m happy to see Skype coming to the handheld, but I’m not really sure I’d use it all that often since I’d need to cart my headset around with me. And maybe I’m security paranoid but there’s the problem of password sniffing at public access points that can’t be helped on a proprietary platform. But free calls on secure access points without a PC are a price that can’t be beat.
Given that the binary for supporting voice and text chat is nothing to sneeze at, I’m guessing it’ll be living on the Memory Stick like part of last month’s internet radio update does.
