Sierra Goes Back to the Well, Making New Leisure Suit Larry Game
Anyone remember the abomination called Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude that was released in October 2004? I cannot get the horror out of my brain. Still one of the worst games that was ever released on every platform, Sierra took the Leisure Suit Larry and squeezed all the character out of the franchise and released a sophmoric game that consisted of four mini-games that you would play over and over, in the hopes of getting the chance to sleep with one of several college women. That’s right, the game consisted of four mini-games, played ad-infinum. The game’s main character was not even the same Larry from the classic adventure games, instead it was his nephew.
Well, the game did craptacular at the cash register and any thought of a sequel was forgotten. But not to be beaten completely, Sierra is bringing the Leisure Suit Larry franchise back to life, and is going back to a mix between mini-games and a standard third person adventure game. The name of the game will be called Box Office Bust, and you will be tasked with preventing the paparazzi from getting info on the stars. The plot sounds simple, and I am still unsure of how well it will do. My confidence is further shattered by the fact that big names like Shannon Elizabeth and Carmen Electra will be doing voice overs for the game. Great batch of talent there.
No release date for the game yet, but they are saying the game is coming to the PS3, 360 and mobile phones. This makes me wonder if the game will be coming to the PSN and Xbox Live Arcade vs. an actual retail release. There will be a trailer released on Feburary 15th.
