Review Copies Clarify Some PS3 Features for DMC4

Review copies of Devil May Cry 4 are making their way to other countries and the features recently mentioned for the PS3 version are getting a bit of clarification from the folks digging into the game. First up, the 5 GB install is mandatory. Might be rough for those folks with 20 GB systems, but it all depends on how fast the load times are and if they’re significantly faster than on the Xbox 360.
Second, there is SIXAXIS support for moving the camera. James once commented to me that DMC3, even in the Special Edition, was “the Dante versus the Camera game”, and I had to agree, especially after fighting the Agni and Rudra boss. If SIXAXIS support helps me see what the heck is going on so I’m not blindsided by attacks I’m all for it. But I’m not getting my hopes up too high.
Lastly there are achievements:
The game will use the PSN for ranking modes. You’ll also be able to collect achievements in the game (like in the Xbox 360 version) and you’ll be able to see what achievements your friends have collected (a la Xbox Live).
That’s a really nice thing to see. Sony’s longtime vision of letting developers do everything finally pays off. What you can’t see is me rolling my eyes. Maybe, just maybe this will be seen as an example to follow by other developers on the console.
