I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

Unlike the Xbox Live service there’s nothing preventing you from creating another PSN identity on your PS3 and tagging it as being from Japan or Europe. Doing so can get you some tasty morsels from the PlayStation Stores in those locales, and this week you’ll be able to get a couple of demos from the Japanese store if you’re so inclined. The English demo of PixelJunk Monsters has landed on the JP Store ahead of its US debut this Thursday. Also coming this Thursday to the JP Store is a demo for Devil May Cry 4.

As far as DMC4 goes I don’t think you’ll have any problems figuring out who to chop up or shoot at if everything is in Japanese, but your mileage may vary.

Update: Capcom has announced that the PS3 and Xbox 360 will both get an English demo of DMC4 this Thursday in the US. Seen on EvilAvatar.

I thought it region-locked you by IP address. CheapyD has that problem as he’s unable to download movies from the XBLM so he’s forced to…ah…use the bittorrent video store as he puts it.

  • Richard Windsor says:

No they are not region locked by IP. I have a Japanese silver account. And I used to have a British account, although I can’t remember why.

  • Paul Munn says:

I think the video store is region locked by IP. I guess the demos and other downloads are not region locked then if you found JP and GB accounts useful.
