EA still not confirming, denying Rock Band for Wii.
While Rock Band for Wii might seem a foregone conclusion with the unreasonable success Guitar Hero III saw on the platform. Indeed, as 360, PS3, and even PS2 owners rock out with their various poorly-constructed instruments out, all our retail dollars are still going to our one option: Guitar Hero III. While EA’s line on it some time ago was that the game would eventually appear on all platforms, and someone at Harmonix has reportedly said “absolutely” to the possibility, their latest word does not move the process forward.
“We have not announced any plans for a Wii version at this time,” wrote EA’s Bryce Baer on Wednesday in an email to GamePro.
Well, OK. But when will you?
My view on this is that the peripherals are a challenge. With Guitar Hero III, we inserted our Wii Remote into a guitar shell. With Rock Band, would we need a Wii Remote for each instrument? That could be intimidating. With USB on Wii available but still generally unused, that could be an option, but do they need Nintendo to produce that code? Those people are pretty busy these days…
