Alan Wake Jumps on the Vista Only Bus
While not totally closing the door on Windows XP, Remedy development director, Markus Maki, has stated that, “It is best to consider Alan Wake to be a Vista exclusive game”. Nothing has been stated up to this point that would say this game would be Vista only. One reason could be to focus on the development of a DirectX10 version, but it could be a Live for Windows support thing, as XP users have experience Live for Windows issues.
So far, the Vista only route has not taken with fans as Halo 2 and Shadowrun had decent, but not stellar success, in part to the inability to legally play these games on XP. I don’t like the idea of this game going Vista only, because it will limit the game audience on this platform, but at the same time, if it allows for a stellar experience with audio, visual and story elements, then it might be worth it. Besides, if this allows for more achievement points, I am all for it.
