Hello everyone, and welcome back to a long delayed podcast. As mentioned in the show, we had several issues with scheduling over the holdiays and some emergencies that had to be taken care of, but we are back and we have come out of the gate with solid show packed full of goodness. As always, we want to ask all the listeners to Digg the podcast and to review us on iTunes. It boosts the podcast in searches when you do this.

This week, we only have George and Joe running the show, and even with our PC and 360 slant, we managed to get some PS3 love into the show. Our main topic this week looked at whether the game industry looks at open day sales of games too closely, to the point of making the game industry more like the movie industry. George makes a good point that it seems to only be the really big hyped titles that get this treatment. He pointed to Super Mario Galaxy as a title that has slowly built up and posted solid numbers, but it took some time to get there. Joe made the issue that maybe it is more the fanboys that drive this perception with their wanting to kill or hype a game they hold as dear to them.
From there, we took a look at some of the best and worst that 2007 had to offer gamers. High on our lists were The Witcher, Halo 3, Bioshock, World in Conflict, Ratchet and Clank, Drake’s Fortune, Call of Duty 4, and Rock Band. On the other side of the fence, we have Kane and Lynch, Lair and Vampire Rain as the worst. Joe also put Nintendo Wii in there due to the insane difficulty of finding one, only to realize that Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy were the only thing worth playing. From there, we try to give reasons as to why George should get a PSP. Joe tells him of a package called EA Replay, which features the old school classic, Syndicate. This added with Skype, and the ability to do so much with it pushed George over the edge. Last in our topics section is the HDMI vs. Component comparison issue that came up this week at Gametrailers.com. After trials with the help of Sony, it seems that there is not much different.
In our readers comments section we had a reader really give James the business about his Unreal Tournament 3 article. George and Joe appreciate his decision, but some people have to understand that we are not gaming journalists, but bloggers. We also found it amusing that he went after James, who we consider the most thought out and least controversial writer on the site. Arolli from Down Under in Australia got turned on to our webcast and we thanked him on the air. Lastly we got a letter of appreciation from Kevin cassidy, site owner of GoNintendo.com. He was happy we ran with one of his stories, which generated a lot of traffic and response to his petition.
In our news stories, we looked at THQ cancelling a couple of big titles, Fox news anchor rips into Mass Effect, calling it a virtual rape simulator, while admitting she had never played the game, Devil May Cry 4 demo on the 360 and PS3, and finally Rock Band dating solo instruments along with Mad catz producing Rock Band instruments and accessories.
We closed out with some shout outs and a trivia question that is worth an Xbox Live code for Gripshift if you have the right answer.
