WV Student Arrested After Xbox Live Threat
19-year-old Allieu Shaw, who will soon be an ex-student of Frostburg State University, is an idiot. During an online session of COD4 on his Xbox 360, Shaw stated that he wanted to, “shoot up his school” and explained, “how he was going to do it.”
Unfortunately for Allieu, Kaipo Damurand of Oregon was in the room as well and didn’t take his comments lightly. Kaipo contacted the Frostburg Police Department to report Shaw’s comments. Soon after, Frostburg police notified the college (which went on red alert) then promptly contacted Microsoft to track down where Shaw was located in the dorms.
Shaw was arrested and when questioned, he told police, “he was joking and had no intention of following through with the threats.” Hilarious.
Cumberland Times News: As the university community and the rest of the city pondered the frightening possibility of violence shattering the typical calm of the Mountain City, police working with Microsoft and XBox Live tracked the Internet provider address to Shaw and his room at Annapolis Hall.
I’m going to go on the record and say that I’ve heard people make threats much worse than this one but never took it seriously. Some may say that Kaipo Damurand overreacted but tell that to the families of victims if Shaw was telling the truth. Moral of the story: Shut your hole and play.
