Stor3d: Omega Dawn, Toy Home, Snakeball, Trials of Topoq, Free Add-Ons.
Tis the season for giving, and PlayStation Store has dropped a big bag of toys — some free and some not — for us to play with. It’s also gotten a little bit of a reorganization, with a new set of “Newest” folders on the front page to hold links to the Newest Games, Demos, Add-Ons, Videos, and PSOne Classics.
New games hitting today include the Toy Home racer at USD 9.99, Snakeball at USD 9.99, the Trials of Topoq game for the PlayStation Eye for USD 4.99 and the Mesmerize: Distort Interactive Art game for the PlayStation Eye for USD 1.99. Two new Eye games in one week is nice to see, even if one of them is just a screensaver-ish toy. Also new is that rarest of rare beasts, the PSOne Classic. This week we have the original Warhawk for USD 5.99.
Snakeball and Blacksite: Area 51 get demos this week. Personally what I’ve seen of Snakeball looks pretty boring but a demo is a demo and I’ll take it for a spin. With all the negative press on Blacksite I’m not likely to do much with that demo but you never know it might tickle my fancy and prompt me to rent the full game.
The Add-Ons folder is bulging with new content. From the Warhawk Omega Dawn Pack for USD 7.99 to three new Rock Band tracks at USD 1.99 each (Brass In Pocket, Buddy Holly, and My Iron Lung) there’s something to buy. Guitar Hero III fans get a free music track with “We Three Kings”; MotorStorm fans get a free holiday paint job for the Castro Varadero Big Rig; and there’s a free Folklore Holiday Add-On giving Keats and Ellen holiday outfits and Keats a holiday quest up against a new Grab Bag folk. There are also two new absolutely free Add-Ons for High Stakes On the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition. Together they add five new types of poker to the game at zero dollars and zero cents.
Three new themes hit today with a Warhawk Theme and two PAIN themes, one for the Santa character Add-On released last week and the other for the Cookie character Add-On released last week. The Add-Ons are 99 cents each, but the Themes are free. Not a bad marketing idea.
