Sony Media Manager for PSP Now Free
Did you get a shiny new PSP for the holidays? Are you planning on scooping one up with some generous gift cards instead? You might want to check out the official Sony Media Manager software for converting pictures, music, and videos to PSP compatible formats that is now free. It’ll also back up your data on your memory stick for safe keeping on your Windows PC.
It used to be sold direct from Sony’s website or at retail but they’ve done what they should have done right away and made the automatic conversion, synchronizing, and backup software free.
There is now a Pro version, though, which they still charge for. What’s Pro have that the regular doesn’t? Apparently better Vista support, FLAC codec support and support for transferring PSN games bought on the store to the device. With the Downloader app working just fine for game transfers I don’t really know what the big deal is about the Pro version unless you’re saddled with Vista: one of the worst products of last year. I should also note that both versions are extremely Windows only.
