Slow Sales of Fury Prompt Big Layoffs at Auran Games

    By Joe Haygood | December 7, 2007

Auran Games, developer of the new MMO, Fury, is proceeding with big layoffs after slower than projected sales of its flagship title. IGN spoke with the CEO of Auran, and found that most of the rumors circulating the web are true and that the layoffs are progressing.

Seems that the 60-70 developers worked on the project and most will be released from employment, save for a few that are considered the most critical to development. Most of the future work on Fury will be done by contracted firms in China that have helped with Fury in the past. Some of the people that are laid off will have a chance to interview for employment at Tantalus, which is another studio in Australia that is developing DS and Wii games.

    • This is too bad. I think their game got lost in the holiday onslaught. I played it at PAX and it seemed like an interesting title. Wish it had sold better.
