I have to say I'm shocked at the tremendous power consumption of the PS3. Its appalling that under high load it uses the same power as 3 SETS OF XMAS TREE LIGHTS! OMFGWTF!!!!

Get a grip people lol

As opposed to the 6.7m who have so far bought the PS3? It sold 1m worldwide last month alone. Get a new one because the 'no ones buying the PS3' line is a bit out of date.

I've corrected the 40GB PS3 Cell chip mentioned to be 65nm instead of 45nm. Thanks Wraith on EvilAvatar.

Yes, one of Nintendo's design goals with the Wii was to make it very small, consuming even less power than the Gamecube, and running very cool. I read an interview where they basically flat-out said, "we started out figuring we'd just make a gamecube that was more efficient."

I'm not surprised at all by the extremely low numbers for the Wii. It needs to be that low to fit in such a small case and require only one small fan.

More power usage means more heat generated (at least until someone invents a 100% efficient CPU and becomes the richest person in the world).
