That puppy right there is the combat dropship coming in the Omega Dawn add-on for Warhawk this month, and while it’s a little hard to see in the smaller size, this high-definition sized image should give you a clearer view. GamerSyde has a pair of high-definition videos of night combat and the new combat dropship up and they’re both gorgeous. You can grab the night flight showing a warhawk-only dogfight on the new Omega Dawn map via bittorrent in MPEG-4 format here, or you can grab the kicking-the-tires video of the dropship in MPEG-4 format via bittorrent here. The Omega Dawn dogfighting video might look like a regular flight sim dogfight to folks who haven’t played Warhawk, but pay special attention to when the pilot swoops in under the pipes to scoop up a powerup or two. The scale of the levels and how you could actually land the thing if you wanted to is driven home in that sequence, and the soldier makes dispatching his opponents look easy.

The dropship video shows you how heavily armed the combat dropship is and how the six seats aboard are more than a place for players to twiddle their thumbs and hope to survive the trip. Each seat has a missile turret to go with the six gatling guns the pilot can use to shower hot lead onto enemy forces. The ship’s propulsion system is heavily reminiscent of the glowing nacelles on the Nebuchadnezzar in The Matrix films. The dropship video disappoints only in one fashion — it doesn’t show what it looks like and how it works to pick up a vehicle and drop it somewhere.
